It’s Thursday and I’m thankful.
Actually, I’m learning to be thankful in all circumstances. Learning is the operative word. You see, I haven’t always been thankful. In fact, I’ve been downright resentful about circumstances I can’t control. Uggghhh.
Since God is more concerned with my character than my comfort, He continues to invite me to “practice” through additional challenging circumstances in my life. Fantastic! Seriously?! This is hard. I cannot do this in my own strength. My “rights” get in the way…I find myself saying things like: “I shouldn’t have to feel so much pain” and “If God really loved me He wouldn’t let me suffer”…etc. Oh really?
I don’t know what gospel I’d been “reading” but the reality is that If Jesus Christ came as a suffering servant and I am to become more and more conformed into HIS image, I need to accept all circumstances. Lord please help me. Help that comes from God Almighty. I need His indwelling Spirit to direct my steps.
What about you? What are you thankful for today? Maybe you are changing your perspective so that like Paul you can learn to be content in any and every situation…Philippians 4:11-13. It’s a process. Lifelong.
My thankfulness does not depend upon my circumstances. Or does it? Where are you in this process?
Thankful and hopeful,
